According to statistics of the Automobile Manufacturers Association in Vietnam, the sales of Toyota Vios in 1.2021 no longer lead as usual, instead it is the rise of the Mitsubishi Xpander.
Reported business results by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), the sales of members in January 2021 reached 26,432 cars, down nearly 46% compared to December 2020, but grew strongly 60 % compared to January 2020.
Notably, in January 2021, Toyota Vios is no longer the “king of sales”, this “throne” belongs to Mitsubishi Xpander.
In January, Mitsubishi Xpander (CBU) sold 2,721 vehicles. Toyota Vios also lost to two competitors in the same segment, Hyundai Accent with 1,799 units sold and Honda City with 1579 units.
According to many automotive experts, the reason why Hyundai Accent and Honda City surpassed the Toyota Vios is because these two car companies have launched the 2021 version before their competitors, so there was a start of the new year with high sales. while Toyota Vios is in stock due to waiting for the upgrade.
Accordingly, at the end of 2020, Hyundai launched the Accent 2021 to sell in parallel to the 2020 version. Thus, sales of this car are almost uninterrupted. Honda City also launched the 2021 version from the end of 2020.
According to VAMA statistics, the next positions belonged to Kia seltos with 1226, Mazda Cx5 – 1016, Kia Sorento – 946, Ford Rager – 932, Kia Cerato – 916, Corola Croos – 853, Soluto with 605 vehicles.
The volume of domestically assembled vehicles reached 14,512 units, a decrease of 51% from the previous month and the number of imported CBU vehicles was 11,920 units, down 35% from the previous month.
